The Welcoming Prayer and Centering Prayer with Rev. Tom Ward
December 9th, 9am-3pm
Join Rev. Tom Ward for a contemplative workshop exploring two complementary practices of Christian prayer: Centering Prayer and the Welcoming Prayer.
Centering Prayer invites us into silence, resting in God’s presence beyond words and thoughts. The Welcoming Prayer builds on this foundation, offering a way to carry that same spirit of consent and surrender into daily life — welcoming whatever arises, and releasing our grip on control, security, and approval into God’s care. Together, these practices form a rhythm of stillness and active trust.
Whether you are new to contemplative prayer or deepening an established practice, this workshop offers a welcoming space to slow down, let go, and encounter the sacred. All are welcome; no prior experience necessary.
This is a one day workshop, 9am-3pm central, lunch included. To make overnight lodging reservations, contact our Reservations Team, Reservations@stmaryssewanee.org.
